Divide these measurements by two. The resulting numbers are used for the sole and back of leg. Method: Front of leg and instep: Cast on 85 stitches using a provisional cast on. I used Judy's Magic Cast on from www.persistentillusion.com casting on 85 stitches on each needle. Leaving the cast on stitches resting on the cable of a 32" long addi turbo, knit in pattern for 4 inches or half of your foot measurement. Sole: Knit plain across 35 stitches, and work in stockinette on these 35 stitches only for half of your foot measurement. Break yarn. Back of Leg: Attach yarn at the beginning of the 50 stitches, and work in pattern for approximately 4.5 to 5 inches (half of your leg measurement) - ending with second last row of pattern for sock A, and Row 8 for sock B. Heel and Toe Preparation: Graft, in pattern the 50 stitches you were just working on to the first 50 stitches from the cast on row. Break yarn. Now graft the remaining 35 stitches together in pattern. You now have a tube with a slit in it. This slit is the heel. Heel: Pick up and knit 30 stitches on one side of the slit, and an additional 30 on the other side. Work one round plain, and then begin decreasing: Round 1: Needle 1: K1, KFB, knit to last 3 stitches, KFB, K2. Repeat on needle 2 Rounds 2 and 3: Knit all stitches plain Repeat these three rounds 6 times total - you will have 36 stitches left. 18 on each needle. Work Rounds 1 and 2 4 times until you have 10 stitches left on each needle. Graft these stitches together to close tube. Toe: Repeat as for the heel, only repeating rounds 1 and 2 until you have 20 stitches remaining - 10 on each needle. Graft toe closed Weave in ends. And make another one. |
